What type of businesses is Ascend LA designed for?
Ascend LA is designed for growth-oriented, contract-ready businesses that primarily serve B2B or public-sector markets. We prioritize businesses with annual revenue between $1M–$2M, though strong tech-enabled companies may be assessed based on capabilities rather than revenue alone.
What industries does Ascend LA target?
We focus on both legacy and emerging industries aligned with government and corporate contracting opportunities, including construction, professional services, IT, defense, aerospace, AI, clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and logistics.
Is there a cost to participate?
No. Ascend LA is offered at no cost to selected participants thanks to support from our funding and program partners.
Do I need to already have government certifications?
Certifications such as MBE, WBE, DBE, or DVBE are helpful but not required. The program includes guidance on identifying and pursuing relevant certifications.
Will I receive a certificate after completing the program?
Yes. Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate of completion from Ascend LA.
What is the time commitment?
The program runs for approximately four months and includes virtual sessions, in-person convenings, and one-on-one coaching. Participants are expected to remain fully engaged throughout the program and may not miss more than three sessions.
Where is the program held?
Ascend LA is a hybrid program with virtual sessions and in-person events hosted in Los Angeles County.
How are businesses selected?
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Selection is based on business readiness, alignment with contracting opportunities, community impact, and commitment to program participation.
